AN INVITATION
Long before there were pharmacies, there were wild meadows, streams, forests and hedgerows. And before we began planting, there were songs that the plants played through our hearts, hands and throats, songs that activated their medicine, magic and told us which plants would stand beside us when we needed protection, healing and guidance.
Over a thousand years ago, a scribe wrote down a healing charm that was already ancient. It names nine herbs, speaks to each of them as a living being, and calls on them to rise against the nine poisons and the flying venoms that travel the land. At its heart stands Woden — the Norse Odin — the wanderer who hung upon the World Tree to take up the runes.

This diet takes that charm off the page and into the body. Across eighteen weeks you'll meet each of the nine herbs in turn: journeying to meet its spirit, learning its rune, drinking it, dreaming with it, and then resting in circle to share what it showed you — until these plants are no longer names in an old manuscript, but allies you know somatically, spiritually, and by the way they speak.
WHAT THE NINE BRING YOU
Medicines for the Poisons We Face
The poisons of our time look different from those of a thousand years ago, but they still creep in. Into our foods, our skin, our waters, our air and soil, into bodies that brace in fear of what's coming, the exhaustion you feel, the sense of being unmoored, unmotivated, confused, and alone with it all. Over eighteen weeks, the nine herbs work on body, mind and spirit together.
This is what they offer you.
Ground Beneath Your Feet
A steady daily practice and living allies to return to when the future feels heavy and the world feels loud.
Protection & Clear Sight
Plants that strengthen your boundaries, sharpen your discernment, and help you see the wolves in sheep's clothing.
Remembering Who You Are
Plant dieting strips away what isn't yours. The herbs help you break through illusion and come home to your own heart.
A Living Path to Your Ancestors
Medicine your Northern European forebears knew by name, met through journey, rune and myth rather than from books alone.
Allies for Life
Nine herbs you know in your body and can grow, gather and prepare, ready to call on long after the eighteen weeks end.
You Don't Walk Alone
A circle every other week to share dreams, journeys and questions with others walking the same path.
This Journey is for You If...
You wake at 3am with the future sitting on your chest, and you're tired of carrying it alone
The news, the noise and the pace of the world leave you feeling unmoored, and you long for something old and steady to stand on
You feel called to the Norse, Anglo-Saxon and wider Northern traditions and want to know their medicine from the inside
You want a real relationship with plants, not just a list of their uses
You're drawn to the runes and the nine worlds and want to meet them through living practice
You're drawn to plant dieting but want a gentle, structured way in that works with everyday life
You long for a slow practice that asks something of you — and gives something back
You are at a crossroads or threshold, and need both inner guidance and protection for the path ahead
No previous herbal, rune or journeying experience is needed. Only curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to listen.

MY PATH WITH THE NINE
From the Wizard Garden

For as long as I can remember, the plants have been my teachers. Their intelligence and guidance have walked beside me all my life, helping me break through illusion and remember who I am. They have shaped me into the woman I am today. They have shared their teachings, shown me my own heart, and warned me of wolves hiding in sheep's clothing. They opened the pathways to my guides, to the spirit realm, and to my gifts.

Everything changed when I found the medicine wheel of my European ancestors. It aligned me with my purpose, my medicine and my power. For around ten years now I have worked with the runes and the nine worlds, and it was these nine sacred herbs that opened the way to them.

Years ago, my husband and I planted a wizard garden on our land with these nine herbs. That garden is an altar. I gather from it for charms, for healing, for protection and for divination. But it was when I began to carry the herbs with me, and to know them in my body, that I was able to go deeper into my path.

This path has not been an easy one. There have been spiritual, psychic and physical attacks, witch hunts, some from people I never would have imagined. This world is, and always has been, wrought with poisons. Through all of it, these plants have helped me hold my integrity, my truth and my ground, surrounding me with protection and with sight.
And when the cancer did hit, the plants walked beside me every step, alongside my doctors and my treatment. They held me when my body and spirit were at their most vulnerable and tender, they mitigated the poison, and were a huge part of how I survived.
We're in a spiritual battle now, and the plants are our allies. I would love to introduce you to the nine of them that have guided our people for thousands of years.

THE NORTHERN TRADITION
Herbs, Runes & The Nine Worlds
Wyrm com snican, toslat he man.
Ða genam Woden VIIII wuldortanas…
A serpent came crawling and tore at a man.
Then Woden took up nine glory-twigs…
The Nine Herbs Charm survives in the Lacnunga, a tenth-century English book of remedies. The Anglo-Saxons who wrote it shared a common root with the Norse: the same gods, the same World Tree, the same reverence for the number nine. The charm is one of the very few places in Old English poetry where Woden appears by name, striking the serpent with nine glory-twigs until it shatters into nine pieces — nine poisons, answered by nine herbs.
Seen through the lens of Norse shamanism, the charm opens onto a whole cosmology. The herbs are not ingredients but beings with lineage and power, and the work of healing is also the work of the seer: travelling between worlds, speaking with spirits, and carving meaning into wood.

THE RHYTHM OF THE DIET
One Week with the herb,
One Week to Integrate
Each herb is given a two-week cycle. The first week is spent in diet with the plant. The second week you set the herb down, let its teachings settle, and gather with the circle.

Integration week: circle, lore & myth
THE PATH
The Nine Herbs
From the eldest of worts to the venom-loather. Each herb walks with a rune of the Elder Futhark, and many are rooted in one of the nine worlds. These correspondences are revealed as you walk the path.
WEEKS 1-2
Mugwort
Una · the eldest of worts
Artemisia vulgaris
The first herb named, and the eldest. Herb of thresholds, dreams, and the traveller's path — she opens the journey and teaches us to see in the dark.
WEEKS 7-8
Nettle
Wergulu
Urtica dioica
Fierce protector, deep nourisher. Nettle guards her boundaries and gives everything to those who approach with respect.
WEEKS 2-4
Plantain
Waybread · the mother of worts
Plantago major
She grows where feet have trodden and carts have rolled. Humble, resilient, endlessly healing — the medicine that meets us on the road.
WEEKS 9-10
Chamomile
Mægðe · Maythe
Chamaemelum nobile
The golden-hearted one. At the centre of the journey, she brings softness, rest, and the medicine of being gently held.
WEEKS 5-6
Watercress
Stune
Nasturtium officinale
Herb of clear running water and bright, peppery vitality. Stune teaches us about flow, cleansing, and what grows where the water is clean.
WEEKS 11-12
Crab Apple
The Wild Apple
Malus sylvestris
Keeper of Idunn's apples of youth and of the Otherworld orchards. Sour and sweet at once, she forms the base of the charm's medicine and holds the others together.
WEEKS 13-14
Chervil
Fille
Anthriscus cerefolium
A delicate spring tonic with a sweet, anise breath. Chervil speaks of renewal, and of the green returning after the long dark.
WEEKS 15-16
Fennel
Finule
Foeniculum vulgare
Sung together with chervil — fille and finule — as a pair of mighty ones. Fennel warms the belly, sharpens the eye, and carries courage.
WEEKS 17-18
Viper's Bugloss
Attorlaðe · the venom-loather
Echium vulgare
The debated ninth, the venom-loather. Her bristled stem is speckled like a serpent's skin and her seeds are shaped like a viper's head, so the old herbalists called on her against snakebite and poison. She closes the circle.

QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked
Do I need to know the runes or shamanic journeying?
No. Each rune is introduced as we meet its herb, and every journey is fully guided. If you'd like a deeper foundation, the six-week rune class is a beautiful companion.
Where do I get the herbs?
You can forage them yourself, source them from reputable herbalists either local or through ETSY, or request a bundle from me
How much time does it take?
During diet weeks, anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour day for your herb, a short ritual connection, and a few lines in your journal, plus the opening journey and integration circles which is once per week. You are welcome to go deeper always, but this is designed to work around your regular work/life schedule and commitments.
Do I have to change my diet or lifestyle?
Traditional plant dieting often asks for simplicity during the diet. You'll be given gentle suggestions, such as reducing alcohol, stimulants, social media, and making space for quiet, which you can adapt to your life.
What if I miss a gathering?
Every gathering and journey is recorded, and the guides remain yours, so you can catch up or return to any herb at your own pace.
Why viper's bugloss as the ninth herb?
The ninth herb, attorlaðe or "venom-loather", is the most debated in the charm. Scholars have proposed viper's bugloss, betony and cockspur grass, among others. We work with viper's bugloss: a long-honoured protective herb in the Anglo-Saxon tradition because this is what I was taught by my teacher, but you may also choose betony as a gentle herb to take as a daily tea.
Payment in full or by plan commits you to the full course fee; refundable within 14 days if the course hasn't begun.
